Bad Porn – Beware Iyashite Agerun Saiyuki

They might look sweet, innocent and attractive here, but don’t be fooled. (Probably) not actual hentai footage.

Yesterday we watched Iyashite Agerun Saiyuki, which we now believe roughly translates as ‘Bad Porn’. Now I’m not sure exactly where Yuribou got his anonymous tip off saying we should watch ‘Bad Porn’ but suffice to say it didn’t really pay off. The vague premise from ANN seemed to be a bit of good ol’ comedy hentai, featuring a large smattering of magical girls, much in the vein of ‘Magical Kanon’ or the celebrated ‘Sex Warrior Pudding’. Comedy and hentai not being the obvious choice for a mixture of genres but in these cases it really does quite work and overall makes good light evening entertainment.

‘Bad Porn’ on the other hand was mainly let down by it’s drawing style, with horribly ugly characters – even the magical girls were passable at the very best and the main annoyance stemming from small perverted bottle-glasses boy who imho the creator should be shot for even conceiving. His appearances made all the worse by annoying muzak playing throughout his annoying scenes.

The main problem is that if this were just normal anime I would have felt no qualms about gonging this show and reaching for the stop-go-away-never-darken-our-screens-ever-again button even before the opening credits. For some reason this didnt happen and we kept watching “on the off chance it got better”. Which, to be fair it did…

In a brief summary of the plot, there seemed to be three magical girls whose magical-girl-meaning-in-life is to repair machines, probably through their great sexual prowess. (How they repair motorbikes with this ability remains a mystery). For some reason they end up walking through the desert and indulging in the erotic charms of three androids of pleasure. The androids malfunction from hidious mistreatment and there is much metal tentacle rapage.

There were soem quite good bits: The metal tentacles and girl-on-gynoid action were quite hot as was the final orgy of healing. The problem was that in light of just watching an annoying small boy nose-bleed like 500 times, deriving any enjoyment from the rest of the hentai JUST FELT WRONG.

I guess this all just shows how badly things can go wrong when you tread the fine line between comedy and hentai. The main problem here was the comedy wasn’t funny and the girls just weren’t hawt. Art style had a lot to do with it I guess. Indeed the difference between the first and second seasons of Minami-ke is an example of how just changing the drawing style of an anime slightly has a big impact on comedic effect. Annoying characters in any anime are never going to go down well and in hentai they should be left well away, preferably bound and gagged in a gimp suit at the bottom of a very very deep pit. ‘Bad Porn’ actually wouldn’t have been nearly so bad without the annoying boy scenes. The art was bad, but might have been just about tolerable and the wrong feeling might well have gone away.

So, BEWARE BAD HENTAI! and view with extreme cautain. Viewing without proper precautions can lead to cringing, vomiting, loss of libido and long-term impotence. My advice, just don’t watch Iyashite Agerun Saiyuki.

    Yeah it really annoys me when in ecchi or hentai the male lead constantly has nosebleeds ok we get it enough already. I agree.

    Yeah unfortunately they usually have this effect. That’s why I always do the smart thing before I check out a hentai and search on the interwebs for it. Yes I said interwebs.^_^.

    For an interesting comedy hentai, I bumped into Yarima Queen, which I thought was amusing. Mayhap it’ll be better than this? (which, by the sounds of it, isn’t hard XD)

    And thanks for the heads-up on avoiding Bad Porn, though I don’t think anything could be worse than Inyoku Tokkyuu Zetsurinou – evil train sex-bases and mechas having sex-battles…

    ha, you’re all missing out on a great hentai show. one of the better ones to come out in the last few YEARS. the animation is great, and i found the character designs to be quite enjoyable. If by looking at the pic posted above you think “those wenches are disgusting!” then I’m quite curious as to what passes for good designs with you people.

    yea… that’s just hilarious… and this persons saying the humor in the show is bad?!?! please, such statements should have people second guessing the credibility of the entire review, encouraging people to actually watch the show and form there own opinion and not listen to the swill spouted here.
