Spring is old fetish season #10 – Lolicon – Don’t LOL at my LOLicon!
Posted on | January 26, 2009 | 5 Comments |

It’s Sunday evening – it’s time for the weekly fetish season post and this time it’s Lolicon that goes back through the wrangler. Technically, this should have been posted earlier, as I’m fairly tired now, having just had dinner after a long drive, but hey – I was lazy, what can you expect?
So let’s start with the conclusions we reached when we first visited this topic in the very first fetish month.
First of all, we noted that the Western pornography industry used lolicon as a kind of roleplay fetish – almost more a sort of comic side-element to the main act: dressing girls up in flowery white cotton panties and trainer bras and doing their hair in pigtails. Even though the game is up when their under-holes gape like the Chunnel. So from this, we decided that it was important to distinguish people who like lolicon for the style and people who like it because of the age. To put it another way, there are two elements to lolicon – personality and looks. i.e. the types of potential loli are:
- A – Looks legal, but acts underage
- B – Looks underage, but acts precociously
- C – Looks and acts underage.
And these are all, in their way, lolicon, since they imply a fetish for either looking or acting underage.
We then went on to discuss why it is such a popular fetish. The main point brought up was that loli girls reminded people of the innocence of childhood, virginity was also a major turn on, as was the thought of tutoring an inexperienced person about sex (especially if the user himself was inexperienced). There was also an element (as I always quote) of an increase in H-coefficient (see my article) with the addition of a lolicon element.
In the end, we came down to the ultimate question – Does liking loli make you illegal? We decided that for the most part, otaku of the lolicon presuasion tend to be able to keep their fantasy and reality worlds healthily separated, though whether this is illegal or not remains the decision of the state bureaucrats rather than anyone actually sensible.
So what to discuss this time? I wanted to delve deeper into the aforementioned thin grey line between the loli fantasy (as portrayed by hentai and eromanga) and loli reality, taking real underage girls as an example. In this way, I hope to see that lolicon is perhaps not quite as farfetched as one could think.

Analysing the practicalties of lolicon
First of all, if we are to analyse the characteristics of lolicon girls, we must first define what age group we are referring to when we translate the material past the reality barrier.
Taking Group A lolis first, the advanced pubertal stage means that the girls are post-pubescent, but with an underage personality; implying that they are still the naughty side of legal. This would give an age group of 13-15. Group B lolis lack the assets of their group A peers, but either talk the talk or are particularly good bluffers, so this implies an age group of 9-12. Group C have neither breasts nor experience, so these girls imply a slightly lower age group of probably 7-10. I’m hesitating to go lower than 7 for my own sanity, by the way…
The practicalities that must be overcome in the real life situation are:
- That the underage girls are in fact interested in boys and open to suggestion for further investigations
- That their underage equipment will function in that respect
- That their looks and/or personality appeal to the perpetrator in question
To tackle the first one first, Love informs me that contrary to my prior belief, girls never really have that same dislike for the opposite gender that boys harbour at that tender age at the end of primary/elementary school. And no wonder, since girls used to have great fun kissing boys and making them feel dirty and used by yucky girls with cooties. Although girls might not have liked boys in the same year as them (since they could actually see how stupid they were), they definitely would have had (perhaps unrealistic) admiration of older boys. This suggests that in a perfect lolicon world, the potential is there for any of the lolicon age groups to fancy an older guy.

For the second point, obviously the group A lolis have the advantage here. Since I currently hail from Coventry, where the average age of cherry poppin is probably 12 and a half, I can vouch that according to the teenage pregnancy statistics, the stuff definitely works. And some girls in that age range definitely can’t get enough of it. So that deals with group A. I had a comments discussion with one of my readers recently on the previous “Fetish Month: Lolicon” post about the practicalities of underage pre-pubescent pudenda. I cannot at all comment on the capacity of underage girls to feel pleasure like the older girls. However, I can give the informed medical opinion that any attempt to actually penetrate a pre-pubescent girl would probably cause a moderate to severe about of trauma and pain. So you loli-guro enthusiasts would be ok then. Sorry groups B and C, you’re missing out on all the fun.
The third is pretty self explanatory. If you are an aesthetic lolicon, then groups B and C will suit your tastes automatically and there will be no problems – I mean, there’s no physical difference between real life and imagined lolicon – bar the enormous moe-inducing eyes, of course… However, if you are a personality-type, then things are a little different. Group B and groups A&C describe the absolutes of personalities at that age. Summed up in a phrase, B-types are precocious (either seeming older or pretending that they are) and A/C-types are mind-meltingly shy. Most lolicons find themselves attracted to one extreme or the other, whereas most girls of real life (as is the way of real things) fall in between the extremes. So finding a girl who has just the right amount of shyness for a particular otaku’s tastes may be difficult – and finding one that is actually interested in him at all may be practically impossible.
And this is where I come to the crux of my argument.
I’ve come up with a theory that pornography works (or titillates) in one of two ways. First, as we see in the more extreme branches of weird hentai (including, but not exclusively: futanari, tentacles, bizarre, breast-expansion etc.), pornography gives life to a situation which is only possible in the realms of fantasy, and it is the viewing of an otherwise impossible sexual situation that makes it appealing to some viewers.
The other way is that it takes a possible situation and tweaks out all the little niggling impracticalities to re-enact it in a “perfect world” fashion. This kind of pornography is basically the imagination of a teenage boy where the girl of his dreams (in the year above and who doesn’t even know his name) seduces him in the school toilets and has wild anal sex with him in which he lasts for a full twenty minutes without blowing too soon and no-one comes in to disturb them (except for her horny best friend to join them for a threesome).
From a lolicon perspective, it provides a scenario where there are underage girls who just happen to have the right kind of loli personality admire an older onii-chan who’ll teach them everything they’ll need to know about the world of adults. They also conveniently stretch like silly putty and love it so much they keep coming back for more. And the best thing? In hentai, you can’t get prosecuted! And so in this way, loli hentai could be seen as amplifying a (almost im)possible situation.

Last words
I’ve tried to post a more balanced view on the fetish this season, as I think I came down a little hard on things last time. Though I myself do not like lolicon, I like to try and justify those who like to fantasise about it – even though in real life they would never act on it. I like to believe that thinking about illegal things doesn’t make one illegal. Or evil. And if there is one thing I have discovered writing these fetish month posts, it is that everyone is entitled to their fetishes and we shouldn’t judge them. Except maybe the scat bizzaro guro bestiality lot. I think they’re used to it.

Well I am not a fan of lolicon, in fact type B makes me sad and type C makes me hate myself for knowing it is out there. But as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone or anything I really don’t judge other’s kink. I do agree with scat bizzaro guro bestiality comment though, having seen an anal eel-snuff food-play book, those people need help.
All that said, I think there is a piece you are overlooking and it is right there in the images you selected: shame. If you look at all the girls you can the shame on their faces, which I think is a big appeal for the lolicons. It goes with the innocence aspect of fetish, more to the point the end of innocence. It probably feeds into the notion that sexuality in general is degrading and foul at least to general society.
Also for the yuri article could you include more Konata/Kagami images, that is just one of the best pairings ever.

- That the underage girls are in fact interested in GIRLS and open to suggestion for further investigations ~ yuri up my life ^^.
So, at first I should say that type B could be interesting, I mean the looking is what makes the fetish interesting. I think most of the likers are looking at the aspect that underaged lolis have 1. A flat chest 2. A small appearance.
To tell something out of my life: When I was in that age I actually understood very well with boys (maybe because of the typical car or doll comparison) but actually had no feelings of the love/sexual way while the girlfriends I had always were more precious to me. Not sexual indeed but a way of loving maybe.
And by thinking about there could actually have been a sexual interest in general, but actually because of the “Its nothing you talk about or do in public” thing.
Actually I am a fan of the Yuri Lolicon side of the fetish while I am against the usual Lolicon (Yay yuri~).
- Jaden:
More Konata/Kagami images? But youre absolutely no lolicon …
By the way I read the Mangas you told me about in the last comment but I actually still don’t get it, no penis in my yuri (Yuri up my life~)

Joku:
Don’t worry about not getting futanari, one’s kink is not up for debate. It is just part of who we are.
Also Konata/Kagami are 18, so they are not lolicons… For me the pairing has to do more with their personalities and interaction, it is more cerebral than sexual. It just comes down to the fact that Konata and Kagami are basically the same yet Kagami is just more reversed and intergrated into society.

I don’t dig dem lolis. And I certainly don’t dig the ‘chibi’ LS designs especially for hentai. If I were to find LS hentai, I’d go out WAY of my way to find anti-chibi. Thankfully Touhou has those kinds by the shitloads due to the anatomical ambiguity[?] of the original character designs.LOLOLOL

Lolicon is another word for Shojo-Hentai!
Hentai is so cool. Beautiful shojos you got there. I love lolicon! I like straight, lesbian and Bisexual Lolicon no matter what! Pedophiles/Paedophiles, Ephebophiles and Chronophiles beware because I will stay away from the children that wants to have sex. So I am not interested on kids. I love anime. I will not be on relationship to the children. The Children hates strangers. Never go with strangers.
