And finally we come to the last part for character types in this tutorial. By now, you’ll have your characters pretty well fleshed out, be they an insanely precocious, yet sporty and soft spoken loli or a sporty yet studious tsundere obsessed with her breast size because she looks like a loli. All each character needs now are a few finishing touches to make them special.

I have decided to call these Accessories (for no particular reason), which refers to things that a character has the fortune to have or regularly wears/possesses. i.e. everything else that makes them unique that aren’t character traits. For example, an easily embarassed genki/baka who is good at sports can describe both Sakura Kinomoto (CCS), Akari Kanzaki (Battle Athletes) or Tomari Kurusu (Kasimasi). However, we all know that they’re different – Sakura is a magical girl, Akari is uncannily good at sports and Tomari is…well…she has twintails.

Accessories are used to flesh out an already built character or to add moe value. Clever use (but not overuse) of them can make your character’s figure fly off the shelves! Nothing complements a great character with a compelling storyline better than a miko outfit, nekomimi and twintails ^_^

| Name: Karin Maaka. Major Class: Genki/Strong Willed. Minor Class: Ditzy, Unexpectedly Kind. Accessories: Mythical creature (Vampire), Disproportionately large breasts (World)

Uncanny ability (Magical/Innate, Competitive, Empathic) – Encompasses all special abilities above and beyond the average such as magical power, fighting ability, athletic ability, proficiency with mechanical things, uncanny insight and empathy, problem solving and evil quelling.
Osananajimi (childhood friend) c.f. Najimi Osana – Doujin Work
Unrequited crush – Female or male e.g. Kaorin – AzuDai
Related – Go for at least 1st degree cousins (1/8 related) unless you want to dredge the deep pits of incest…
Robot/Construct – Usually of Ojou or Energetic class. Also includes computer holograms and shapeshifting constructs. e.g. Jan-puu – Kasimasi
Deadpan – Almost always Quiet(taciturn) and Loli(appearance)
Young girl (loli) – Actually younger rather than looks younger… c.f. Rin Kokonoe – Kodomo no Jikan
Older girl (Sempai/Neesan/Parent) – Beware of incest. Go for MILF instead. e.g. Hatsumi – Tonagura
Rich/secretly well off - Chiyo chan from Azudai springs instantly to mind.
Distinctive way of talking (sentence end/phrase) e.g. Nanoha Takamachi~nano
Weak/ill/previous trauma – Includes both girls weak/terminally ill from birth, those injured in accidents or by acquired illnesses and girls whose hearts are guarded from a previous love trauma and need the kiss of the right prince/princess to break their icy spell e.g. Shizuma Hanazono – Strawberry Panic!

| Name: Unagi. Major Class: Loli. Minor Class. Soft Spoken(no speech), Scaredycat. Accessories: Mythical Creature (shapeshifter), Moe Accessory (Unacceptably baggy clothing)

Mythical creature – Includes ghosts, catgirls, aliens, vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, faeries, elves, time travellers, data creatures, librarians of the universe, familiars, dragons in human form, moon and sun princesses, avatars of murderous gods, angels, angels of death, shinigami and figments of people’s imaginations
Disproportionately large breasts - world or J-league ^_^
Foreigner/Half – Usually have blonde hair – ’cause all foreigners have blonde hair. Really they do.
Regional accent/informal speech – Kantou accent is teh sexay e.g. Hayate Yagami – Nanoha
Futago (twins) - ref: Futakoi Alternative.
Moe profession (maid, miko, serafuku)
Moe accessory (glasses, twintails, ribbon, plush toy)
Gender bending – Only possible in anime without the ugh factor O_o. e.g. Mizuho – OtoBoku
Unusual Phobia – For some reason, frogs come to mind, though I’m not sure why. Androphobia is a fairly popular one when combined with Quiet(shy) characters
