  • 4. Incidental Changing Invasion (ICI)
    • Description: Just like poor Komugi on the previous page, the girl in question gets walked in on while changing. The usual response is a chorus of “Kyaaa! Minai de!!” and a sound kick to the knackers of the person peeping. Of course, if the person peeping is a girl, then violence is averted and yuri can ensue.
    • Example: Nearly all of Girl’s Bravo
    • For Extra points: Nice underwear is always good. Forego the usualy pristine white fare for string panties, lowlegs, stripes and perhaps even a zettai ryouki…or just forego the underwear altogether ^_^ Also can be combined with an UYS (see below) for extra effect.
    • Things to remember: Overuse of this scene in particular can become tiresome. There’s only so many times you can really see the same guy being beaten up after all, so use sparingly. Don’t always feel that violent retribution is the only way to end this, many comic endings have been done and it saves it from becoming overused (ref: School Rumble – Harima and Eri)
    • Typical Scene (acted out by the wonderful Setsuna and Konoka)
      INT Girls’ dorm, DAY. Setsuna is changing after a hard days…erm…doing whatever samurai schoolgirls get up to. KONOKA notices that the door is ajar and pokes her head round.
      KONOKA: Hiii Secchan! Are you ready to come for dinner yet?
      SETSUNA: (half undressed) Aah! Ojou-sama! Don’t look!
      K: (approaching SETSUNA) Why not, Secchan? I see you in the bath all the time?
      S: (Rapidly progressing up the Dulux paint scale) Bb..but this is different, it’s embarassing!
      KONOKA glomps SETSUNA from behind. The camera view switches to the corridor outside where ASUNA is approaching the doorway. ASUNA notices the voices inside and stops to listen.
      K (VO): Ah, Secchan, your breasts are so big when they’re not all bound up…
      S (VO): Aaah. Ojousama! Don’t touch there! Aaah!
      K (VO): Secchan your moans are so cute!
      ASUNA leans in closer to the door but doesn’t notice that the door is ajar and tumbles straight through in a big heap. KONOKA is straddling a half naked and rosy cheeked SETSUNA who is frozen in shock. There is a painful silence. ASUNA’s mouth gapes like a venus flytrap
      S: A..a.a..a..Asuna…It’s not what it looks like!
      K: (sweetly) Asuna-chan, if you wanted to join us you only had to ask.
      There is glompage. Clothes comically fly into shot. Asuna’s bear panties sail high and land on the camera. We hear SUSPICIOUS SLURPING SOUNDS and MOANS OF PLEASURE.
  • 5. Ground’s Eye View (GEV)
    • Description: Oh the fun that could be had if only the ground had eyes. Well, now you can see what the ground sees with Ground Eye View! Basically a scene in which the camera view starts from ground level panning up to catch pantie shots and upskirts.
    • Example: Most of Ikkitousen
    • For Extra points: Camel toe for extra otaku nosebleed-factor.
    • Things to remember: Random upskirt shots are generally inexplicable and lack effect. Context for a GEV gives it a better impact and lessens the overall “cheap” feel of the anime. For example, it may be combined with an EnK for multiple upskirt goodness. Ikkitousen is a good example of an anime in which there were far too many upskirts.
    • Typical Scene (acted out by our lovely Mai and Sayuri)
      INT School hall DAY. SAYURI is ambling happily down the corridor when she bumps into MAI who is on her way to meet her.
      SAYURI: Hello Mai! Are you ready to go and eat lunch?
      MAI: …
      S: What’s wrong Mai?
      M: (points under SAYURI’s skirt) …Camera.
      S: (looks and giggles) You must have left it there last night! Naughty Mai-chan…
      M: (thoughtful) Sa..yuri. Is like “It’s Yuri”.
      S: You say the strangest things, Mai-chan.
  • 6a. Unexpected Yuri scene (UYS)
    • Description: You’re just ambling along jauntily in heteroland when suddenly, bang! Out of the blue – Girls loving.
    • Example: My favourite example is the nurses office scene from Koikoi 7 episode 1 because it’s just so amazingly and completely random.
    • For extra points: The more random the better for comic value. For hawtness, there should also be some of the “copping a feel” c.f. Yaya/Hikari in Strawberr Panic.
    • Things to remember: UYS is different from a sustained yuri storyline (which is also a kind of fanservice, but cannot be summarised in a single scene) and should be treated as such. Most of the time it is used as comic effect (either an accidental kiss, mistaken identity or the girl pursuing is just thatrically gay (Kosame from Girl’s Bravo springs instantly to mind)). If there is subtext then it becomes an Expected Yuri Scene (6b), which requires a degree of storyline buildup and maybe even repeat performances (e.g. Shizuma/Nagisa in Strawberry Panic)
    • Typical Scene (acted out by the incorrigible Kagami and Konata)
      EXT Street DAY. KAGAMI, KONATA, TSUKASA and MIYUKI are walking to school talking about whatever random stuff they talk about every episode. KONATA has :3 face. Just thought I’d mention that.
      KONATA: Saa, Kagami. What’s the difference between a “Deep Kiss” and a normal kiss?
      KAGAMI: (goes red) – I don’t know! Why should I know? Ask Miyuki!
      MIYUKI: A “Deep kiss” is also known as a “French kiss” in Europe and originally came from…*blahblahblah* *4 hours later* …and that’s why they all smell of garlic.
      The girls laugh
      Ko: So…a normal kiss would be like this?
      KONATA glomps KAGAMI and there is kissage. KAGAMI’s eyes go wide as saucers and she tries to push KONATA away, but KONATA has STRENGTH 19. They separate and KAGAMI gasps for breath.
      Ko: …and a deep kiss would be like this?
      KONATA glomps KAGAMI and they fall to the floor. The camera stays on TSUKASA (who is waving a little banner which says “Ganbatte Onee-chan”) and MIYUKI who is saying “Ara ara” a lot and adjusting her glasses. We see KAGAMI’s arm reaching up as if grasping for something.
      Ka: Someone…help…me…
