  • 7. Incidental Wardrobe displacement (IWD)

    • Description: THere’s a whole host of scenes that would come under this category – Most typically it refers to an accident in which somehow a piece of the victim girl’s clothing gets tangled up in something or other causing a wardrobe malfunction and nosebleeding all round. In special cases it also refers to fights in which exchange of blows leads to clothing ripping/exploding and fanservice exposure.
    • Example: Ikkitousen again for the exploding clothes, but for simple clothes pulling, the last scene in the final volume of Love Hina is probably the best example of its type.
    • Extra points for: Sexy underwear underneath (Most notably Negima!) or nothing underneath (do this with yukatas ^_^). One of the people nosebleeding out of shot must be female (I rule it must be so!)
    • Things to remember: Character type is very important in determining how this scene progresses. Tsunderekko will probably resort to violence or extreme embarassment, whereas MOre mature types (e.g. motherly Ojou (Type 5b)) will probably not be too bothered by the nudity and it will be up to the protagonist’s reaction to provide the comedy (or other characters that may be around).
    • Typical Scene: acted out by Haruhi, Mikuru and Yuki
      INT SOS-dan clubroom DAY. MIKURU is in her maid’s outfit serving tea. YUKI is sitting in her usual chair reading “A complete guide to Brassicas”. HARUHI is pondering WORLD DOMINATION. KYON is nowhere to be seen, because he has conveniently disappeared.
      MIKURU: Hai, Suzumiya-san, here’s your teee-~ahhh!
      MIKURU falls over comically, dropping the tray. To break her fall she grabs out at HARUHI and somehow manages to pull down her skirt. HARUHI is wearing SOS-dan print panties. MIKURU looks upwards and suddenly rivals rhubarb. YUKI catches the cup out of midair and takes a sip. Because she’s awesome.
      HARUHI: Mou, Mikuru-chan what are you doing?? Prepare to be punished!!
      M: (still averting her eyes) Please pull your skirt back up Suzumiya-san!
      H: Time for your punishment, Mikuru-chan!
      HARUHI glomps MIKURU and pulls her maid uniform down. MIKURU wails and tries to run away, but HARUHI rugby tackles her to the floor. The camera stays on YUKI as clothes fly into shot. MIKURU’s panties land on her head. YUKI turns to the next page.
      M: No! Suzumiya-san, not there!
      H: Yuki, get over here and hold her down!
      YUKI turns round and the panties drop off her head. She gets up.
      YUKI: Hai.
      M: Nooooo… Kyon-kun! Help meeeee~
  • 8. “Quick, Hide me!” (somewhere that smells of fish) (QHm!)

    • Description: Two characters are doing something innocent (e.g. studying, playing cards, watching hentai) but suddenly, someone knocks on the door and the girl realises that the last thing that she needs is to be found with this guy. Therefore, logically the only thing to do would be to hide him. Under the table. In her panties.
    • Example: Negima manga shower scene (vol 4 or 5). Many many kotatsu scenes. I can’t seem to recall any specific one at the moment.
    • For extra points: Rubbing of nose against panties and eliciting of a surprised sound from said girl and a whispered “Ecchi! Shinai de!”
    • Things to remember: Only really effective once per storyline, since the scene itself is fairly invariant (usually involves a kotatsu). However, there are variations and it is possible to use it more than once if some imagination is put into scene setting (e.g. the above Negima shower scene). Comments on the smell generally do not score points with the ladies ^_^.
    • Typical scene acted out by Natsuki and Nao
      INT NATSUKI’s room, EVENING. NATSUKI and NAO are getting friendly around a kotatsu.
      NATSUKI: Nao, we shouldn’t…Shizuru is due back any minute and she can’t catch you in here!
      NAO: Oh you’re so uptight! She said she was still in Aries and hour ago, right? It takes at least 4 housr to fly back so…
      There is a commotion outside the door. The two girls sit bolt upright. There is a knock.
      Nat: Nao, get under the table! It’s Shizuru!
      NAO gets shoved unceremoniously under the table. Somehow she ends up somewhere that smells faintly of fish, though it is dark and she can’t quite place where. The door opens and SHIZURU enters.
      Nat: S..Shizuru! I wasn’t expecting you back so fast!
      SHIZURU: Oh, I flew back in double time just so I could see my beautiful Natsuki again! (She flounces over and embraces NATSUKI. She tenses and squashes NAO under the table.)
      Nao: (sotto) Ugh. Smells like fish…
      S: Did you  hear something just now?
      Nat: (laughing a little too hard) No! No..nothing! Must have been the guards outside!
      S: (suspicious) You haven’t been cheating on me again Natsuki?
      Nat: (suddenly serious) O…of course not! Why would I ever do that?
      SHIZURU smiles and embraces NATSUKI warmly
      S: I know you wouldn’t, my wonderful Natsuki.
      SHIZURU leans in and NATSUKI closes her eyes. Suddenly, SHIZURU whips back the cloth on the kotatsu. Underneath is an unconscious NAO with her head lodged firmly between NATSUKI’s thighs.
      N: I…I…I can explain! She…she was…
      SHIZURU’s glaive appears. There is a red glint in her eye.
      S: DIVINE PUNISHMENT!!!
  • 9. Suspiciously Sensual Spillage. (S3)

    • Description: Something, usually opaque and white gets “accidentaly” spilled all over someone. Usually accompanied by a doe eyed head shot and a “Onii-chan…it’s all over me” or something to that effect. Also covers wet T-shirt fanservice.
    • Example: Sumomomo Momomo Episode — with the icecream spillage. Loliyuri icecream. Lolikit would be proud ^_^
    • Extra points for: Loli or pseudololi (Older than She Seems) always makes it more moe (and paedolicious). Can also be used to get a quick cleavage shot in to cement the deal. For 1 MILLION POINTS have one of the other girls lick it off her in a suggestive manner. And then yurirapage.
    • Things to remember: None I can think of.
    • Typical scene acted out by: Yaya and Tsubomi
      EXT Ichigo-sha gardens, DAY. It is a lovely sunny day. YAYA and TSUBOMI are enjoyinga leisurely walk in the park with ice cream. Unbeknownst to her, TSUBOMI has taken it to herself to seduce YAYA with her WOMANLY CHARMS.
      TSUBOMI: It’s a lovely day, isn’t it Onee-sama?
      YAYA: (thinking about Hikari): Mm.
      TSUBOMI trips rather too well and spills the melted ice cream all down her face and front.
      T: Aaaa. I spilt it all over my face!
      Y: (hands her a tissue) Clean yourself up, Tsubomi-chan
      T: (reiterating) I said, AAH I GOT IT ALL OVER MY FACE!
      Y: What are you doing, Tsubomi-chan?
      T: (snatches tissue) Mou, why aren’t you hiding a nosebleed like everyone else I’ve tried this out on?
      Y: I’m sorry to say this, Tsubomi, but I’m gay. Gay girls don’t really like that sort of thing. In fact, it’s rather repulsive.
      T: (runs off crying) BAKA ONEESAMA!!
      YAYA shrugs.
    • OK, maybe that wasn’t so typical ^_^

    This line, and in fact the whole scene, was really excellently well-written and perfectly in character. Nice job!
