Tonagura! Finally finished -_-;;

| Yes, you too can feel like this by watching Tonagura…
Yes, I have finslly finished watching the piece of fluff that is Tonagura from a couple of seasons back. If you can remember that far back, I vaguely enthused about it at the beginning, as I thought it showed promise, what with there being an all-out-ecchi male lead (Yoshitaka, without the money), a stoic loli armed to the teeth with BB guns and another loli with drill hair and a rack the approximate size of Los Angeles. And did I mention Hatsune? She’s like, “hawt mother”, except she’s the sister ^_^;; Go figure.
Tonagura starts off with a set of characters bursting with promise. Nina is attached (well, as much as she can with that huge chest getting in the way) at the hip to Marie and if they weren’t so darn cute there would definitely be some loliyuri potential there. I love the way Nina shouts in katakana ^_^. Actually, it reminds me of a yuri picture I saw on Nounanka’s site a while back (I really shouldn’t post the link, it is fairly explicit O_O, though I can’t seem to find the pic on the gallery at the moment…)
Hatsune is not averse to the yuri loving either, even if it involves her sister O_o. Oh well, if you’ve seen Koi Kaze you can pretty much take any incest the mother country can throw at you. Chihaya is awesome simply because she talks in a heavy Osaka accent just like Kero-chan from CardCaptor Sakura. In short, almost all the female characters in the show are great in some way.
So just where did it all go wrong?
The problem with Tonagura was that although there was a rather cute running storyline, with Kazuki and Yuuji running the heavily spiked gauntlet of teenage love, it’s very much “their show”. Yuuji grows up a little by realising that his perverted behaviour ma distance him from Kazuki altogether, while Kazuki realises that through the rose tinted glasses of her childhood memories, perhaps it is Yuuji that hasn’t changed and her that has. (Needless to say it didn’t occur to her that boys are supposed to change when they go through puberty, but she happily ignores this)

| “*sob* Marie-chan…since you’re going away to New York for ten years, can I have the key to the dildo cabinet? Pretty please…..”
None of the other awesome characters really gets a look in edgeways. With the main storyline the farily dull and predictable creature that it is, there needed to be at least some girls fawning over Hatsune in a Kaorin-esque sort of way and Marie and Nina needed to have some naughty mishaps with electric toothbrushes. Or alternatively, Chihaya needed to have all ther other characters have some kind of mass orgy and have the two main characters watch.
“LOOK! THIS IS HOW IT IS DONE. NOW GO HOME AND PRACTICE.”
All in all, Tonagura was fairly entertaining, but not really worth the bandwidth. Another example of a total waste of time peppered with some token fanservice that I’m plowing through at the moment is Chocotto Sister, which is turning out to be a complete washout…but that’s another post. I would recommend it, if only for the Nina chasing around a slightly panicking Marie in a borderline yuri kind of way.
Soon I’ll be belatedly posting about the new series this season and which ones look promising. Very belatedly. Don’t let it be said that I’m behind the times, eh?
Mata ne ^_^

“Hatsune is not averse to the yuri loving either, even if it involves her sister”
I’d say especially in the case of her sister, but that’s just me.

Hmmmm…. I thought I commented on this?
Oh well, just have to say I’m ever more impressed bythis endurance feat than the anime roundup. I couldn’t make it past ep1 of this. :-/
Guess there must have been more Marie / Nina servisu than I realized.
Alas, even as we speak, some poor neglected whiteboard in Japan features this overlooked formula for anime success: Airsoft + Moe + Harem = win.
